Extractions

A tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth from the jaw. The most common reason for an extraction is to remove decayed teeth, fractured or broken teeth. The procedure may also be used when a tooth cannot erupt fully, to reduce dental crowding or the risk of infection.

In many cases, implants can be placed at the same time of an extraction, further minimizing the number of surgical procedures.

What does tooth extraction involve?

With an oral examination, the evaluation of the position of the tooth and possible surgical risks will be discussed with the patient. The removal of teeth is performed under local anesthesia. To help control bleeding, the TwinLight Laser is used to sterilize the bone area, provie PhotoBioModulation to increase healing, and to create a fibrin clot to stabilize the wound. You will rest under our supervision until you are comfortable and ready to be discharged.
